Game Vocabulary
It may be useful to go over vocabulary in the game before having students play. Some useful vocabulary terms include:
Adaptation
the action or process of adapting or being adapted; a change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment
Animal Eating Habits
- Carnivore
an animal that feeds on flesh (eats other animals) - Herbivore
an animal that feeds on plants - Omnivore
an animal that eats food of both plant and animal origin
Evolution
the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth
Extinction
the state or process of a species, family, or larger group being or becoming extinct
Natural selection
the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring
Tree of life
an imaginary branching, treelike structure representing the evolutionary divergence of all living creatures
Variation
a different or distinct form or version of something; the
occurrence
of an organism in more than one distinct color or form
